THIS IS A BLOG. The opinions on this blog are NOT legal advice. They are merely the opinions of one lawyer. Don’t be a lunatic and rely on this blog for direction in your case. Family law is extremely fact-intensive and fact-specific. Consult an attorney for your individual case.
Hi, I’m Mary. I’m a 14-year family lawyer in Austin, TX.
This blog is to help everyday people navigate the family law courts -especially in a pandemic. (Full disclosure: it’s also for venting). Family law is tough enough without having to do it in the middle of a worldwide crisis. I know the COVID-19 pandemic is a real and serious issue. I also recognize that our court system, including my fellow lawyers, judges, and clients, are facing a once-in-a-century situation. I deal with both here, in the way I handle all stress -with terrible attempts at humor. Any jokes, glibness, or sarcasm, regarding the above are coping mechanisms. If this blog is not to your liking, please feel free to watch a Netflix show. I recommend New Girl.
Also, whenever necessary, I use aliases and change the names of cases I discuss. Remember, this is a blog, not Dateline.
